Original four-rank training cards

Sixteen cards: four ranks, four suits each.

What is included

Twos, fives, sevens and nines each have clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. One original fish illustration identifies each rank group. Rank and suit labels remain the card identity; colour alone does not determine a group.

A visible asking activity

Deal a few cards face up to two prepared hands. Ask the learner to name a rank held in the requester’s hand, then check whether the other hand can supply it. Return the cards between examples rather than claiming this is a completed game.

Optional custom mini round

For 2–4 players, deal three cards each and leave the rest as stock. Use rank requests and four-card books. A successful transfer or a stock draw of the requested rank continues the turn; a different draw passes left. An empty player draws one at the start of their turn if stock remains, otherwise skips. With no stock, a failed request passes left. Finish when all four books are collected; most books wins, with equal counts sharing the result.

Print preparation

Open the card sheet, choose A 4 portrait and check preview. Faces only: use opaque paper or sleeves, and have an adult cut. This sixteen-card mini deck is a custom teaching adaptation, not a standard 52-card pack. Personal and classroom printing is welcome.
